VocType is a small, focused voice typing app for Mac and Windows. It is built by one person and paid for by the people who use it, with no investors steering the roadmap.
The premise
One hotkey, in the apps you already use.
The idea is simple. You press one hotkey, say what you want to write, and the text appears where your cursor is: an email, a Slack thread, a pull request or a prompt for an AI model. There is no other app to switch to and nothing to copy and paste.
VocType sends your recording to a cloud speech-to-text provider and pastes the result. That keeps the app light. It also means you need an internet connection. The privacy policy explains exactly what happens to your audio.
Pricing stays simple too: pay monthly or yearly, with a free trial to start.

What we won't change
01
Recordings go to our speech-to-text provider and come back as text. VocType's servers don't store your audio.
02
$9 a month or $70 a year. Both plans start with a free trial, and there are no upsells or hidden tiers.
03
We never sell your data, and this site has no ad trackers. Crash reports are on by default, and you can switch them off in Settings.
The fastest way to know if it fits is to try it.
VocType is not Voxtype, a separate open-source dictation tool for Linux and macOS. The two are not related.
