Terms of service
Last updated · October 22, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and APPSOL360 LLC ("we", "us"), which makes VocType: the desktop app, the service behind it and https://voctype.com. By creating an account or using VocType, you agree to them. You must be at least 18 years old.
1. What VocType does
VocType records what you say when you press the Record hotkey, sends the recording to a cloud speech-to-text provider and pastes the text at your cursor. It needs an internet connection and runs on macOS 13.0 or later on Apple Silicon, or Windows 10 or later on x64.
2. Your account
An account is for one person. Keep your sign-in secure, because you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can use your account on as many of your own computers as you like; they share one set of fair-use caps.
3. The license you get
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use VocType on computers you own or control while your trial or subscription is active. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
4. Free trial
- New subscriptions start with a 30-day free trial on both plans. This is our Launch offer. When it ends, new trials go back to the standard lengths: a 7-day free trial on the monthly plan and a 30-day free trial on the annual plan. Trials that have already started keep their length.
- You add a card when the trial starts and pay nothing that day. When the trial ends, the plan you picked starts and you are charged unless you have cancelled.
- We email you about 24 hours before your trial ends, with the date and amount of the first charge.
- If you cancel during the trial, you are not charged, and you can keep dictating until the trial would have ended.
- You can skip the trial and pay straight away. Your first paid period then starts at once.
- One trial per person, and our payment provider screens trial signups for fraud. If a trial is not available for your account, the app tells you, and you are only charged if you choose to subscribe at the full price.
5. Subscription and billing
- Plans: $9 a month or $70 a year.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period. Cancel anytime in the app (Settings, then Account, then Cancel renewal) or by emailing support@voctype.com. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. Until that date, you can turn renewal back on in the same place.
- You can switch between monthly and annual in the app (Settings, then Account). The switch applies straight away, and you see the exact amount before you confirm. Moving to annual charges the annual price minus the unused part of your current month. Moving to monthly turns the unused part of your year into account credit, which pays for your next renewals until it runs out.
- If a renewal payment fails, we email you and keep trying the card. You can keep dictating for 48 hours on the monthly plan, or 7 days on the annual plan. Update your card under Manage subscription. If the payment still hasn't gone through by then, the subscription ends and we email you to say so.
- Prices are in USD. Any tax that applies is calculated at checkout and added to the price. Checkout may show the price in your local currency.
- Link (Sold through Link, LLC), a Stripe company, sells subscriptions to you as the reseller and merchant of record. Link processes your payment, calculates and collects sales tax and VAT, and sends your receipts. APPSOL360 LLC provides the VocType software and service.
- Charges appear on your card statement as LINK.COM* VOCTYPE.
- If we change a price, we tell you by email before it applies, and it applies from your next renewal.
6. Refunds
Your first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee. Cancelling stops renewal and keeps your access until the end of the paid period; it does not trigger a refund on its own. The refund policy has the details.
7. Fair-use caps
- Paid plans share fair-use caps across all the computers on your account: up to 80 hours of billed dictation a month and up to 5 hours in a 24-hour window. That window starts with your first successful dictation and is not tied to midnight.
- Only successful transcriptions count, and each one counts as at least 10 seconds.
- On a monthly plan, the monthly cap resets when your plan renews. On an annual plan, it resets every month on the same day of the month you subscribed. Unused time does not carry over.
- During the Launch offer, every trial has the same caps as a paid plan.
- A single recording can be up to 30 minutes long.
- When you reach a cap, dictation pauses and the app shows when you can dictate again. A recording that could not be transcribed because of a cap stays on your computer so you can retry it from History later.
8. Acceptable use
- Don't use VocType to break the law, infringe rights or harass others.
- Don't try to bypass licensing or caps, scrape our APIs, or run automated load tests against our servers without permission.
- Don't share your account or resell access to it.
9. Your content
Your recordings and transcripts are yours. You let us process them only to run VocType for you: transcribing, showing your History and handling support requests you send us. You are responsible for what you dictate and where you paste it.
10. Privacy
Transcription runs in the cloud. The privacy policy explains what we collect, who processes it and how long we keep it.
11. Updates and changes to the service
The app updates itself to deliver fixes and new features. We may add, change or remove features. If a change takes away something important that you paid for, we tell you in advance.
12. Ending your account
You can cancel anytime. To delete your account and its data, open Settings in the app, then Account, and click Delete account, or email support@voctype.com from the address you signed up with. Deleting your account ends access at once and cancels any renewal. If part of a paid period is unused, we refund that part automatically, as the refund policy explains. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, usually after a notice and a chance to fix it, but straight away for serious abuse.
13. Disclaimers
VocType is provided "as is". Speech-to-text makes mistakes, and accuracy depends on your microphone, accent and surroundings, so check the text before you send it. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute is heard in the state or federal courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming. If you use VocType as a consumer, you keep any rights that the law where you live gives you and that a contract cannot take away.
16. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we post the new version here and move the "Last updated" date. For important changes, we also tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using VocType after that, the new terms apply.
