Personal Dictionary
Fix words VocType gets wrong with word replacements, and teach it names and terms with vocabulary.
Last updated · October 21, 2026
Open VocType from its menu bar icon and go to Dictionary. It has two tabs, and both are saved to your account.
Word replacements
Swap a word or phrase VocType gets wrong for the one you meant, before the text is pasted. For example, replace "voc type" with "VocType".
- Replacements match whole words and ignore capitals.
- Add several spellings for one replacement by separating them with commas.
Vocabulary
Add names, product terms and jargon you use often. VocType sends them with each recording as spelling hints, so the transcript is more likely to spell them your way.
- Each entry can be up to 100 characters.
- Only so many hints fit with each recording. Words past that limit are marked "Not sent: over the hint limit"; remove some entries to make room.
Vocabulary only nudges the spelling. If a word still comes out wrong, add a word replacement for it too.
